Campfire Desserts for Cold Nights

There's something magical about a warm dessert at the end of a big day outdoors. Whether you're wrapping up after a trail, a tournament, or just a long week, this five-minute hack turns your On Track Coconut Rice Pudding into a cosy apple crumble that tastes like it took far more effort than it did.

The campfire dessert you didn't know you needed

Turn your On Track Coconut Rice Pudding into a warm, golden apple crumble — no kitchen required.

10 minutes

Camp stove or embers

1–2 serves

No oven. No fuss. Just real food, gently warmed, with whatever extras you have on hand. Here's how to make it happen.

What you'll need

1x On Track Meals Coconut Rice Pudding

1–2 apples, diced

2–3 tablespoons of oats or pre-made crumble topping

Optional extras: Cinnamon, brown sugar, chopped nuts, dessicated coconut, almond meal

How to make it

  1. Dice your apples and layer them generously over a serving of the Coconut Rice Pudding.
  2. Add a sprinkle of crumble topping — or simply mix a few tablespoons of oats with a pinch of brown sugar.
  3. Wrap the whole thing in foil and warm gently over embers or on a camp stove until heated through.
  4. Unwrap and finish with a generous dash of cinnamon and/or a handful of chopped nuts for texture and warmth.
  5. Serve in bowls, top with any remaining fresh diced apple, and dig in.

Pro tip: If you're making this at a campsite, pop the foil parcel right on the coals for a slightly smokier flavour — it's a little rustic, a lot delicious. At home, a few minutes in a warm oven works just as well.

Why we love this one

The On Track Coconut Rice Pudding already brings that creamy, lightly sweet base — it's the perfect canvas. Apples add freshness and a gentle tartness, the oat crumble gives you crunch, and cinnamon ties it all together into something that genuinely feels like a treat.

Best of all, it fits beautifully into a balanced approach to eating. You're building on a meal that's already prepped and portioned — just adding a little wholesome goodness on top. That's the On Track way.
