Founded in Australia, On Track Meals was born from a passion for adventure, endurance and the outdoors. The brand’s story began in the early 2000s, when co-founder Rich was leading expeditions across the legendary Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea. Inspired by the courage, resilience and mateship shown by Australian soldiers during WWII, Rich and his brother Andrew — a former Special Forces Green Beret who served in Afghanistan — established On Track Expeditions to share the Kokoda experience with fellow Australians.

Over the years, the team built strong ties with the people and villages of Papua New Guinea, working alongside local guides and logistics crews while leading hundreds of trekkers across the Kokoda Track. Along the way, one challenge became impossible to ignore: the quality of outdoor food available for remote expeditions.

At the time, freeze-dried meals dominated the market. While lightweight and convenient, they often lacked taste, texture and the nutrition needed for demanding outdoor conditions. Determined to create a better alternative, the On Track team returned to Australia and began developing their own range of shelf-stable outdoor meals designed specifically for adventurers.

Working with food technology specialists and using advanced retort pouch technology, On Track Meals pioneered a range of real, ready-to-eat meals that delivered the flavour, nutrition and convenience outdoor enthusiasts were looking for. The result was a durable meal range capable of lasting for years in harsh environments while still tasting fresh and satisfying.

Today, On Track Meals is trusted by adventurers, campers, hikers and outdoor professionals seeking convenient, great-tasting meals for life outdoors.
