The easy pasta dinner you’ll make again
Turn one pouch of Slow Cooked Australian Steak into a rich steak ragu with a handful of everyday ingredients.
Under 20 minutes
Stove or camp stove
Serves 2–3
One pouch. One pot of sauce. A very solid dinner.
What you'll need
- 1 x On Track Meals Slow Cooked Australian Steak
- 300 g pasta
- 1 x 400 g tin diced tomatoes
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Dried Italian herbs
- Parmesan to finish
Pasta tip: Rigatoni or pappardelle are especially good here because they hold onto the ragu.
How to make it
- Cook the pasta according to the packet instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Soften the onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat for about 3–4 minutes.
- Add the diced tomatoes and dried herbs, then simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the Slow Cooked Australian Steak straight to the pot. Break up the meat and stir it through the sauce.
- Toss through the pasta, season to taste and finish with parmesan.
Camp tip: If you’re making this outdoors, keep things simple and cook the pasta first. Drain it, use the same pot for the sauce, then toss everything back together at the end.
Easy extra: A pinch of chilli flakes, a spoonful of tomato paste or a handful of spinach can all go in if you have them.
Why we love this one
The Slow Cooked Australian Steak does the hard part for you, bringing tender beef and slow-cooked flavour without the hours normally needed for a proper ragu.
It works just as well on a Tuesday night when you want something satisfying without much effort as it does after a camping weekend when there’s still a pouch left in the bag.
A few pantry staples, one pouch and less than 20 minutes later, dinner is sorted.
